A peek inside the workshop

About Twenty8 Lab

A whimsical creative invention workshop blending handmade fiber arts, experimental design, and collectible artisan product lines.

The Twenty8 Lab workshop

Two Makers, One Worktable

Twenty8 Lab is a husband-and-wife workshop. She's the fiber obsessive — the one who sees a skein of yarn and immediately imagines six things it could become. He's the tech nerd — the one who bought a UV printer "just to see what happens" and then couldn't stop experimenting.

Together, we make things that sit somewhere between handcraft and invention. She brings the texture, the color instinct, the hands-on making. He brings the printing, the prototyping, the "what if we tried it this way?" energy. The overlap is where the magic lives.

Why "28"?

We're both born on the 28th — different months, same number. When we needed a name for the workshop, it was already written into us. Twenty8 felt right: personal, a little quirky, ours. It stuck.

How It Started

The lab began the way most good experiments do — with curiosity and a messy table. A pile of yarn. A UV printer. A sketchbook full of half-baked ideas and zero business plan.

What started as late-night tinkering (her crocheting on the couch, him running test prints at midnight) turned into actual products people wanted to buy. Each collection we release is weeks of back-and-forth — testing textures, arguing over colors, prototyping until something finally clicks.

What We Believe

  • Curiosity over perfection. The best ideas come from asking "what if?" and being willing to fail. Our workshop is full of beautiful mistakes that led somewhere unexpected.
  • Process is part of the product. We share the messy in-between steps — prototypes, failed prints, tangled yarn. Making is a story, not just an outcome.
  • Honest materials, real texture. Yarn, fiber, UV-cured inks, wood, brass. Materials you can feel. No shortcuts, no filler.
  • Collectible, not disposable. Every piece is designed to feel like a tiny artifact from an inventor's cabinet. Something you keep on a shelf, not something you scroll past.

How We Work

She sketches. He models. She picks the fibers. He dials in the print settings. She says "that color is wrong" and she's always right. He says "what if we add a layer?" and sometimes he's right too.

Our process blends crochet, knitting, and fiber craft with UV texture printing and digital design tools. Each collection starts with a concept — a landscape, a color palette, a weird question — and evolves through experimentation until it becomes a tangible thing you can hold in your hands.

The workshop is equal parts yarn studio, print lab, and inventor's notebook. It's small, it's ours, and it's exactly where we want to be.
